Earth Live – Bob Austin on the Dubai Hijacking, 9/11's Zero-Second Phone Call & the Midterms
Earth Live for Saturday, October 3, 2026, with Keith Temple in Black Sheep Studio and longtime contributor Bob Austin. Internet trouble kept the show off the live stream this week, so this one was recorded and posted after the fact.
Bob gives his take on the Dubai hijacking story and why he thinks it looks staged. That leads into 9/11 and the Barbara Olson phone call behind the box cutter story. From there it's a night of Jacksonville stories: a parking lot lesson outside the Mandarin Ale House, the night two regulars played bouncer at O'Malley's, the last Hooters in town closing its doors, and three pitchers of beer with a table of Vietnam vets. The guys also remember Corey Parker, and close with the midterms 30 days out, gas prices, and a tongue-in-cheek 2028 endorsement.
Bob Austin's take on the Dubai hijacking story
Bob Austin, a former Delta operator and the show's longest-running contributor, explains why he thinks the account of the Dubai hijacking looks staged, and Keith asks him to spell out what he means.
9/11 and the Barbara Olson phone call
From there the conversation turns to 9/11 and the reported phone call from Barbara Olson that the box cutter story rests on, and the questions Bob has about it.
A night of Jacksonville stories
Most of the night is Jacksonville: a parking lot lesson outside the Mandarin Ale House, the night two regulars played bouncer at O'Malley's, the last Hooters in town closing its doors, and three pitchers of beer with a table of Vietnam vets. The guys also take time to remember Corey Parker.
The midterms, 30 days out
The show closes on the midterm elections a month away, gas prices, and a tongue-in-cheek 2028 endorsement.
